When our business began as a small butcher shop in 1988 we never imagined it would be what it is today. But one thing has remained unchanged, and that is our vision to bring something different and unique to the Australian smallgoods market. Our aim has always been to create a range of smoked meats that can be appreciated and enjoyed just like a good cheese or a fine wine. We have a real passion for our products and our satisfaction comes from hearing that our customers love eating our smallgoods.

Our Story

From humble beginnings in 1988, and with a mere $500 in his pocket, founder and owner of Sunshine Meats, Jose Pereira, was given the opportunity of a lifetime: to purchase a small butcher shop in Redfern from his employer. With only 3 months experience in the butchery trade, no financial aid and English as a second language.
